Sonakshi is Salman’s top leading lady

Five years ago, Salman Khan partnered a little known 21-year-old in Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. Today, Katrina Kaif is Bollywood’s reigning queen. The duo hasn’t romanced in reel life since Yuvvraaj, two years ago.
Critics have been carping about the over two-decade age difference between Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter and Salman. Retorts Dabanggdirector Abhinav Kashyap, “It’s become fashionable to run down newcomers. Why shouldn’t a young girl pair up with a top star? All the heroes are 40-plus, she doesn’t have a choice anyway.”

He points out that directors too are happier casting a younger girl to a 30-plus. “You can’t eat only dal-chawal(lentils and rice) everyday. Everyone’s looking for novelty and Sonakshi is an attractive package,” Kashyap argues. “She’s pretty, tall, talented and the daughter of a Bihar MP, which makes it easier for her to be accepted as Chulbul Pandey’s lady love.”
If all goes well, Mr and Mrs Pandey would stage a comeback in Robinhood Pandey. Kashyap confirms the news, saying the suggestion of a sequel came from Salman following the response to the first promos of Dabangg.
“When a character becomes popular, whether it’s Mad Max, Tom and Jerry or our Robinhood, it’s easy to carry the story forward,” says Kashyap, who’s been signed up by producer Arbaaz Khan for at least one more film.
It could be Robinhood Pandey or something else, given that Salman is halfway through his current under-production Ready, and committed to three more projects. “But I’ll start working on the script right away and, yes, it will have Sonakshi too,” Kashyap says.
Buzz is that Salman may also pair up with Sonakshi in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick, midway through 2011. Sonakshi says, “I’ve heard the rumours too, but I can’t speak on this yet. I’ve only met Sajid unofficially. I’m glad my pairing with Salman has been appreciated.”
It’s also heard that she’s in the running for Mr India 2, opposite Boney Kapoor’s son Arjun, with Salman as a modern-day 3D Mogambo. She’s also being considered for Wanted 2.
Sonakshi admits she’d love to play Sridevi’s role and be in Wanted 2 as well: “Why not? Both films were blockbusters!”

Govinda invites Salman's wrath?

There's fresh nectar in gossip circles these days. According to reliable sources, Salman Khan is mighty upset with Govinda's rebellion. Wondering what's that rebellion? Here's the news for you.

Govinda's decision to let her daughter Narmada step into Bollywood without waiting any longer for Salman's help has reportedly not gone well with Sallu. It's learnt that Salman is not too happy with Govinda's decision.

According to our sources, "The fact that Salman never really helped Govinda launch his daughter finally madeGovinda look for other opportunities. Now, that Narmada is ready to try her luck in Bollywood, Salman on the other hand thinks that Govinda is making thinks ugly by refusing take his suggestions regarding Narmada's career. Govinda on his part is adamant to prove that he can stand without Salman's help. This is one of the reasons why the veteran actor is refusing to be part of PARTNER 2 also."

Govinda might be trying to prove that he can exist without Salman's support and can even launch his daughter without his guidance, but knowing the fact what Salman is, isn't Govinda inviting Salman's wrath?

Bollywood - Tom and Jerry to Partner in Hindi

The movie is hardly a week old in theaters and talks of its sequel have gained momentum and as sure as the sun is to rise in the east, you can bet on this one happening. Partner is making the audience roll over in laughter and the distributors are more than just laughing their way to the banks. The trade feels that the movie might just be the biggest hit of the year.
The Govinda-Salman combination scenes are the pick of the movie with both of them really giving uninhibited performances almost bringing the roof down. The movie has put an end to the lack of successful comedies in the year. Hey Baby is the next big comedy in line.

Talking about the sequel, Ever since the movie released, pressure has been mounting on director David Dhawan and Salman Khan (who’s home banner produced the movie) to announce the sequel. The audience, the distributors and theater owners want it, and pretty quickly. I was amidst all this demand that Salman Khan in an interview that a sequel was very much on their minds and suggested that it might be called ‘Tom and Jerry’. Director David Dhawan too seemed to be quite amused with the title though he suggested ‘Carry on Partner’ as a probability. Whatever the title, the audiences sure want the David Dhawan-Salman-Govinda partnership to continue

Salman and Govinda as Tom and Jerry?

                                                                    salman khan

Just days after the release of their film Partner , rumours are abuzz that Salman Khan and Govinda will pair again for another David Dhawan film.

The film, tentatively titled 'Tom And Jerry', will reportedly be a sequel to 'Partner'. Once again, Sohail Khan Production will produce the film.

However, sources say that the story of the sequel will not be in continuation to 'Partner'. The characters that Salman and Govinda will play in the film will be different from the ones they enacted in 'Partner'.

According to the buzz, Salman will play a character called Tom while Govinda will play Jerry. The movie will explore the love-and-hate relationship between the two.

David Dhawan admits that such a film is in contention but refuses to divulge any details about the storyline. He does say that the film will have Govinda and Salman again.

Dhawan also adds that the film is not exactly inspired from the famous Tom and Jerry cartoon series.

If the grapevine is to be believed, the film's shooting will begin by the end of this year.

Salman and Govinda on the chase with ‘Tom and Jerry’

Mumbai,   Salman and Govinda were last seen saying ‘Do you wanna partner?’ to each other in the 2007 comedy flick ‘Partner’ directed by David Dhawan. The film went on to be a blockbuster and it resurrected Govinda’s career in Bollywood once again. Soon after the film was a success, there was news that a sequel of ‘Partner’ would soon be on the floors. The audience waited…….and waited!

After four years, David Dhawan is back in news with the script of ‘Partner-2’ that will now be called ‘Tom and Jerry’. Under the banner of Sohail Khan Productions and K Sera Sera, ‘Tom and Jerry’ is ready for a make. In an interview, director David Dhawan revealed that in the sequel, Salman and Govinda would be seen fighting against each other for winning their lady loves. This chase that would be the theme of the film inspired the new title. Needless to mention that Sallu miyan would be ‘Tom’ and Chi Chi bhaiya would be the ohh so cute ‘Jerry’. Lara Dutta would also be a part of the sequel.

Salman and Katrina’s ‘not so good’ relationship seems to have taken a toll over Kat’s role in the film. According to sources, Katrina look alike Zarine Khan would be a part of ‘Tom and Jerry’ now. She would be playing the role of Bhaskar’s (Govinda) sister in the film. Zarine Khan is a model turned actress who debuted in Bollywood with the Salman starrer Veer in 2010.

‘Partner’ released in 2007 and revolved around the story of love guru Salman and his ‘disciple’ Bhaskar (played by Govinda). Lara Dutta essayed the role of Naina, Salman’s lady love while Bhaskar falls in love with his boss, Priya Jaisingh (played by Katrina Kaif). This comedy film had great performances by the stars and was illustrated with feet-tapping music by Sajid-Wajid. Songs like ‘Do you wanna partner’ and ‘Soni de nakhre’ topped the charts that year. The film was shot in picturesque locations of Thailand and managed to earn gross revenue of 103 crores.

According to recent reports, Sanjay Dutt would be the third man in ‘Tom and Jerry’. He would be seen in the role of a kind hearted villain who adds to the comic situations in the film. Sanjay has worked with David Dhawan in films like Chal mere bhai, Jodi no 1, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi and Ek aur Ek gyrah. The director looks excited about the laugh riot that the three stars would be able to generate on screen. The sequel has been penned down by Sanjay Chhel and is expected to go on the floors by June this year. It is slated for a mid year release in 2012.

Dhawan has immense confidence on Govinda’s talents and reassures that ‘Tom and Jerry’ would be able to recreate the Govinda magic. We may or may not agree to this but surely hope that the sequel proves to be a paisa wasool entertainer and the audience has a great time watching the film.

Ajay, Sanjay are like Tom & Jerry in 'Rascals': David Dhawan

DAVID DHAWAN SAYS :

Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt have been close friends for over a decade now and 'Rascals' director David Dhawan says their chemistry helps bring out the best in the Tom & Jerry-like scenes in the upcoming comedy.
“The fact that Ajay and Sanju are such good friends is the best part of 'Rascals'. When two actors have great rapport between them, it always shows on screen. The entire give and take between Ajay and Sanju is what brings maximum laughter in the film.
“For the audience it would be fun to watch the two of them in sequences which would be akin to 'Tom & Jerry' chase. I really enjoyed working with the two of them," Dhawan said.
This isn't the first time that the duo has shared screen space. They have starred in films like 'All The Best', 'Mehbooba' and 'Tango Charlie'. Sanjay even did a voiceover for Ajay's 'Toonpur Ka Superrhero'. Moreover, they had worked with Dhawan earlier in 'Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin'.
For someone who has worked in maximum number of films with the likes of Govinda, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor in a career spanning over two decades, Dhawan promises his audience vintage stuff with 'Rascals'.
“With Sanju and Ajay around, I got the kind of actors that my script demanded and together both of them have improvised further on the scenes. This is the kind of value that senior actors bring to your film. As a director you just need to explain the scenes to them and then they just take them to a different level altogether,” said Dhawan. Both Sanjay and Ajay established themselves as action heroes in Bollywood. Though the former has tried his hand at comedy off and on, Ajay discovered his funny bone only in the past few years.

Salman and Govinda may play Tom and Jerry in Partner sequel

salman khan
STORY OF TOM AND JERRY
Partner has released and had an almost 100 percent opening on the week-end.
The comedy film starring the partnership of Salman andGovinda was widely
appreciated by audiences and even the critical appreciation was average for
the film. However it seems David Dhawan was already confident that his
film Partner with Salman and Govinda would do well and hence the director
has already planned a sequel to Partner. The sequel will be produced by
Sohail Khan and directed by David Dhawan and will star Salman and
Govinda who will don roles akin to Tom and Jerry cartoon characters.

Salman Khan too is very happy with the film’s response and claims
that in all likelihood they will have a sequel; he said “Partner will surely
have a sequel. It’s called Tom and Jerry and it’s based on the Tom and
Jerry cartoon series.” The film will focus on the love-hate relationship of
guru Prem (Salman) and his chela Bhaskar (protégée Govinda).
Sources claim that David Dhawan is currently working on the script of
the sequel of Partner and the shooting may start later this year.
Dhawan is so impressed with the Salman-Govinda jodi that he wants
to make at least one film with the two stars together every year.
The Salman-Govinda chemistry on-screen seems to be working its
magic and off-screen too the duo is considered to be good buddies
and often go out for coffee et al.

However the director does not want to give away the story of the film right
from the start and hence he is not willing to say too much about the sequel
except that it will definitely have his hit jodi-Salman and Govinda. As for
the girls Lara and Katrina who were seen in Partner, nothing has yet been
finalized, so they may or may not be seen in the sequel.

Partner sequel has no takers

Even before the release of Partner, Salman Khan had revealed the team's plans to make a sequel, also with Govinda, called Tom and Jerry. It was hoped the two actors could turn it into a franchise with a series of Partner movies.

Although work on the scripting has begun, producer Sohail Khan is now finding it tough to get financial backing.

Producer woes
According to a source, Sohail had approached UTV with Main aur Mrs Khanna and Tom and Jerry, both for total sum of Rs 100 crore.

But then he tried to renegotiate with an additional project KisaanTom and Jerry is not likely to start before September 2008, maybe even later.

Directed by Puneet Sira, Kisaan is a patriotic movie featuring Sohail and Arbaaz Khan. After weighing the pros and cons, UTV declined to take on Kisaan. So the deal fell through.

Back out
After things didn't work out with UTV , Sohail went to Studio 18. The deal was locked in with Tom and Jerry and Main aur Mrs Khanna.

But once Kisaan became a part of the package, the corporate backed out too. Now, Sohail Khan is said to be in talks with Reliance Entertainment. Meanwhile, negotiations have been re-opened with UTV .

Sohail Khan did not returns calls and text messages. Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV said, "We are in talks with Sohail Khan for various projects. We'll talk once everything is finalised."
